“I’ll soon leave music and make my billions” — Davido declares

Afrobeats superstar Davido has declared that he may soon leave the music industry to focus on making billions, following a heated exchange with Nigerian rapper Erigga on X.

The singer made the statement while responding to a post by Erigga celebrating musicians who did not come from wealthy families and had to work hard for every dollar they earned.

“Shoutout to all the musicians who don’t come from family money and had to grind for every single dollar they earn,” Erigga wrote.

Davido disagreed with the sentiment, arguing that coming from a wealthy family does not prevent an artiste from working hard and achieving success.

“No be we say make your pops no guard o. Shoutout to the ones that came from family money and still grind to the top,” he responded.

The singer then described Erigga’s post as “useless motivation” and called the rapper an “imbecile.”

Davido subsequently hinted at his possible exit from music, saying he intends to focus on building his wealth.

“No worry o I go soon leave their music for una GO MAKE MY BILLIONS … then that shit gonna be boring AF,” he wrote.

He concluded the exchange by questioning whether people genuinely want to remain poor.

“Deep down who like poverty?” Davido asked.

His comments have since sparked reactions online, with social media users debating his remarks about wealth, privilege and the future of his music career.
